Rockchop Strop — Handmade Kangaroo Leather (210 × 70 × 15 mm)
Each Rockchop Strop is handmade by Steve in the Rockchop workshop, using premium kangaroo leather bonded to a solid wooden base. Every piece is shaped, glued, and finished by hand to feel clean, fast, and perfectly balanced in use.
Why kangaroo leather?
Kangaroo hide is naturally strong, thin, and consistent. Its tight fibre structure keeps the surface smooth and stable over time, meaning it won’t dish, stretch, or fluff up like softer leathers. This makes it ideal for high-hardness steels and fine edge work where control matters most.Design details
The leather edges are carefully chamfered to prevent the knife from digging in or nicking the surface — a small touch that helps protect both the strop and the blade edge. The base provides a solid, stable platform with just the right amount of feedback.Use
A few light passes on the strop after sharpening — or as part of regular maintenance — will realign and polish the edge without altering geometry. Use it bare or with a light compound, depending on how much bite or polish you prefer. Each one is simple, durable, and made to feel like a permanent part of your sharpening setup — a tool built to be used, not displayed.
